Meydan Free Zone: Fawri licence, visas and who it suits

Who Meydan suits

• Solo founders and freelancers who will be the only shareholder (the Fawri route).
• Consultants and online businesses that want a Dubai address and a flexi-desk.
• Founders who want the company before they move, and will add visas later.
• People who will keep living elsewhere for now and run a UAE company (see base your company in Dubai but live abroad).

Meydan suits you less if you hold physical stock, need a large office, or want the name recognition of DMCC.

Meydan at a glance

• Activities: more than 2,500, with up to three activity groups on one licence. Meydan's Fawri page says more than 1,800 are available for Fawri.
• Fawri: one person as shareholder, manager, director and beneficial owner; issued in under 60 minutes, entirely online, with a full refund if late.
• Standard digital licence: issued within a day, Meydan says.
• Visas: added "only when your business needs them". With Fawri, visas sit outside the base package; Meydan says the visa process typically takes 3 to 7 business days after the licence.
• Office: a flexi-desk is included with the trade licence.
• Mainland work: Meydan describes a route to lease mainland office space with a no-objection certificate and DET approval, without a separate mainland licence.
• Banking: more than 26 local and international banking and fintech partners, Meydan says.

Banking

Meydan's partner banks still make their own decision. Combining general trading with several unrelated activities can make a bank ask more questions, so keep the activity list tight and prepare your source-of-funds documents first. Our business banking service handles that file.

How we set up a Meydan company

We check first that Meydan fits your activity and that Fawri or the standard licence suits your shareholding. Then you get one all-in price covering the licence, your visa and the bank account support. We choose the activity groups with you so the licence reads well to a bank, file the application, and keep the beneficial owner registers in order. When you fly in we book the medical, Emirates ID and bank meetings together. Your home country's tax rules still apply to you, and some countries tax a company where it is managed, so check that before you rely on the move for tax.
