How to choose a UAE setup partner

There are a lot of firms in this market, and they're not all aiming at the same person. Here's the honest breakdown, including where we fit and where we don't.

Most people researching a UAE setup meet three different kinds of firm, and the confusing part is that they all use similar language. It's worth knowing which one you're actually talking to before you sign anything.

Formation agents

Fast, often cheap, and good at what they do: get a UAE company licensed and, usually, a bank account opened. Some bundle in visas and basic accounting. If your case is simple and you're not relocating your own life, this is often the right, efficient choice. What it doesn't usually cover is the other side of a genuine move, whether and when you stop being tax resident at home, and the family side of an actual relocation.

UAE-only setup specialists

A step up in depth: smaller, hands-on firms who know the UAE side properly, often with genuinely deep banking relationships built over years of setups. Where they tend to draw the line is the client they take on, usually an established business owner who already has a working business, and the country they're leaving. Your home-country tax position gets referred to "an adviser you work alongside", a reasonable model, it just means you're coordinating two relationships instead of one.

Full transition consultancies

This is where we sit. We're not a tax firm ourselves, we work with qualified advisers on both sides just as the specialist firms do. The difference is what the conversation covers from the first call: the UAE structure, the visas and banking, and, where it matters, how your home-country position and timing line up with all of it, planned together rather than as separate projects. We're a dual-entity firm, based in the UAE with a UK arm alongside it, so we're genuinely on the ground here, not running the UAE side remotely.

A rough guide to where you sit

  • Your case is simple and price is the main thing. A formation agent is the sensible, efficient choice. Don't pay for depth a straightforward setup doesn't need.
  • You already run a business and just need the UAE side handled properly. A UAE-only specialist can be an excellent fit, especially if their banking relationships are strong. Just be clear on who, if anyone, is planning your home-country side.
  • You're relocating your life, your family, or you want the whole thing planned as one sequence. That's the job we do.

Questions worth asking any firm

  • What's excluded from this quote? A low headline price often leaves out visas, the deposit, or the ongoing accounting.
  • Who is actually planning my home-country tax exit, and when it happens? "We'll point you to someone" and "we plan it with you from the first call" are different services.
  • What happens if the bank account gets refused? The licence is the easy part. Ask who owns the banking outcome.
  • Who looks after my family's side of the move? Schools, areas, the practical landing, ask whether that's in scope.
  • Who handles renewals and filings next year, and at what cost? The first year is usually the cheap one.

When we're not the right firm

If your case is genuinely simple and price is your main concern, a formation agent will serve you better and we'll say so. If you already run a business and just want the UAE side done, a specialist setup firm might suit you fine, we can still be useful alongside them for the home-country exit planning. We're built for people relocating their life, or business owners who'd rather have one firm hold the whole sequence, not everyone needs that.
